Youth must be viewed as ‘’valued assets to be nurtured and developed rather than as problems to be solved’’. From this outlook, our programming shall work on ‘’building mutually beneficial relationships between youth and their family, peer groups, school, workplace, community, government institutions, society, and culture’’. We intend to implement a broad range of interventions aimed at building the competencies, skills, knowledge, interests and abilities of youth that they need to grow and flourish throughout life. We will achieve this by facilitating youth development initiatives and engagement with the public, private and civil society stakeholders on collaborative Positive Youth Development initiatives.
Our
PYD interventions are developed against a backdrop of a critical youth
development transition phase evolving rapidly; socially, emotionally and
physically, within a complex world. We will enhance access to preventive and
responsive interventions for the youth at individual level, and in school,
family and community environments, to positively inform and respond to numerous
factors that influence how they develop, and flourish or struggle.
Our programming will enable youth beneficiaries and stakeholders to better respond to youth
development challenges and is tailored to the ‘seven features of PYD that are recognized as
essential for strong youth-focused programming.
Our commitment is founded on encouraging young people's active participation and decision-making. Youth participation in organizational and community-level decisions is ensured by fostering environments where their voices are heard and valued.
By facilitating skill development and education, we equip them to navigate life's obstacles, fostering leadership and critical thinking. Instilling a sense of responsibility and connection to their communities, we alsopromote civic engagement by encouraging youth to participate in community initiatives and advocate for positive change actively.
Our programs are devoted to addressing the holistic well-being of young people. Mental health awareness and support are of the utmost importance as we implement programs to increase mental health awareness and provide accessible support services. Sexual and reproductive health education is fundamental, as it equips young people with the knowledge and resources necessary to make informed decisions.
Our commitment extends to promoting a holistic approach to health, encompassing physical, mental, and social dimensions, and creating environments promoting healthy lifestyles and positive social interactions.
